Type: Registered 501(c)3 status non-profit organization with an all volunteer Board of Directors Founded: 1996 Location: New York, NY with members from around the tri-state area Organization: Annual elections are held for all positions on the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors are responsible for the coordination and supervision of all programs and events and are divided into committees which each help to facilitate individual aspects of the organization. Programs, Activities and Events: - Youth Mentorship Program (ages 7-14) - Teen Mentorship Program (ages 15-18) - Adoption Forums - Monthly Social Events - Speakers Bureau (educational opportunities for adoptees, adoption professionals and perspective and adoptive parents) - Cultural Events & Activities - Resources for Korean language programs - Joint activities with local Korean American organizations that provide networking opportunities Mission: The mission of Also-Known-As, Inc. is to empower the voice of adult international adoptees, build cultural bridges, transform perceptions of race, and acknowledge the loss of the birth country, culture, language and biological family experienced by international adoptees.
